Dr. Ivonne Anders
Since the beginning of November 2019, Ivonne Anders is working in data management at DKRZ for CLICCS, to ensure that no data originating from CLICCS gets lost.
Therefore, she develops data management plans together with each and every scientist. Depending on the type of data there are different platforms to preserve them – each having its own specifications regarding the form of the data.
“Knowing these specifications and taking care of them from the beginning on will save researches a lot of time overall”, says Anders, who holds a doctorate in climate research. And: “Nowadays a data management plan is required for many funding programs – for example by the DFG or the EU.”
Although the majority of researchers is aware of the importance of data management, some are skeptical and hesitate to invest time in developing a plan. Or, as Anders says with a twinkle in her eye: “People don't have time to tidy up but they have endless time to search for things”.
In order to promote the data management, Anders is trying to connect with all 14 CLICCS projects. Besides she is planning a workshop on research data management open for all CLICCS members in the upcoming semester.
