Initiatives and Projects
The Synthesis team seeks to promote strong scientific networking and community-building within the cluster in order to bridge disciplinary gaps, encourage new collaborations, identify research gaps, and synthesize research findings that are relevant for CLICCS. To this end, the Synthesis project has organized a series of events, established new projects within CLICCS, and has coordinated the design and publication of the 2021 Hamburg Climate Futures Outlook. The CLICCS Retreat is an annual event that brings CLICCS researchers together for a two-day programme that includes the presentation of individual and collective projects, the active exchange and identification of cross-project challenges and opportunities, breakout groups focused on major CLICCS subjects, and social events. The CLICCS Convent, in turn, is a regular event that addresses specific cross-cutting themes or salient subjects of current political debate. It is one of the central community building elements of CLICCS, involving internal and external experts during lively discussions that push forward the synthesis, relevance, as well as inter- and transdisciplinary exchange of CLICCS research. The Synthesis project also organizes workshops dedicated to support the scientific collaboration within the cluster and the production of the Hamburg Climate Futures Outlook.
