In our project, we investigate land-use futures in rural areas and assess opportunities and limits for sustainable land management adaptation.
We work in four case study regions across the world: Amazonia/Brazil, Namibia/Zambia, Nepal/Northeast India, and the Metropolitan Region Hamburg in Germany. These regions differ in climatic, ecological, and social preconditions and risk configurations.
In addition to the focus regions, we have two further research priorities: "Diverse ways of knowing" and "studies at higher spatial scales”, where we link local land use adaptations to regional and global scales.
