Procect Description
The members of the project "Sustainable Adaptation Scenarios for coastal Systems" have the aim to methodologically put transdisciplinarity into practice. For this to be done, we explore the in-between of socio-ecological coastal systems from a regional and place-based perspective with the aim to develop plausible and socially grounded, possible adaptation scenarios.
The work will be carried out in the context of three thematic case studies: shrimp fisheries on the East Frisian coast, eutrophication in the Elbe Estuary and nature-based coastal protection on the North Frisian Islands of Amrum and Föhr.
Geophysical, biogeophysical, food web, social and economic components of each case will be analysed and negotiated with local actors to develop a place-specific model understanding and to build resilient/sustainable development pathways for regional climate change adaptation scenarios.
