Dr. Philipp Porada has now switched to Hamburg from the University of Potsdam, and will serve as a W1 professor of “Ecological Modeling” with a tenure track position leading to W2 at the Department of Biology.
Effective October 1, Dr. Philipp Porada from the University of Potsdam commenced his duties as a W1 professor of “Ecological Modeling,” with a tenure track position leading to W2 at the Department of Biology. Dr. Porada will investigate the interactions between vegetation and its surroundings; in this regard, he will especially focus on non-vascular plants (e.g. lichens, mosses and algae), which are vital to biogeochemical cycles in a variety of ecosystems. His research approach is based on a vegetation model that reflects numerous processes involved in plant physiology, population dynamics and macro-ecology, and can be applied at both the local and global scale.
As a new professor, Dr. Porada will be a valued addition to the core research area at the Universität Hamburg “Climate, Earth and Environment” in joining the Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society” (CLICCS), as well as the MIN research focus area on “Ecology and Biological Resources.”
