Tools to Manage Motivation, Stress, and Uncertainty
Staying on track in academia is rarely a matter of constant motivation. This HRA Spotlight explores how PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers can effectively pursue long-term career goals despite fluctuations in motivation, and high levels of uncertainty. Drawing on current motivation research, the session focuses on practical strategies to improve goal selection to facilitate progress, but also on how to better regulate the stress and negative emotions that comes with the inherent challenges posed by academic career goals.
Participants will gain insights into the dynamics of motivation, and evidence-based tools to support resilience. The session/lecture will last about 1.5 hours in total including time for Q&A.
