Climate researchers from UHH at the 14th ExtremeWeather Congress in Hamburg

The 14th Extreme Weather Congress will take place at HafenCity University from September 25 to 27, 2024. The interdisciplinary conference aims to strengthen the current state of research and the dialog between science and the public on the topic of extreme weather and climate change in Germany. Experts from the University of Hamburg, in particular from the Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society” (CLICCS), will also be taking part in the congress. Prof. Dr. Hermann Held, Professor of Sustainable Environmental Development and Director of the “Research Center for Sustainability and Climate Risks” (FNK) at the UHH, will speak on the 2-degree target and economic fallacies on the first day of the conference. On 26 September, Prof. Dr. Grischa Perino, Professor of Economics (especially Ecological Economics), and Dr. Leonard Borchert, research associate at the FNK, will present their research on tropical nights in summer 2024 in the topic area “Our health - effects and dealing with extreme weather in cities and communities”. Prof. Dr. Heinke Schlünzen, Professor of Meteorology, will also be taking part in the poster session on Thursday with a presentation on “Standards - the key to adapting to climate change”.
