Young talent for the scientific community: Dr. Andrés López Rivera, a political scientist at the University of Hamburg’s Cluster of Excellence Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS), was recently inducted into the Young Academy Fellows program, offered by the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg.
López Rivera, born in 1988, is currently investigating how knowledge, diversity, and social change interact, and how different forms of knowledge shape our conceptions of climate futures. As a co-editor of the Hamburg Climate Futures Outlook, he is also working to improve our understanding of the social prerequisites for decarbonization and sustainable climate-change adaptation.
“Polycrises call for new ideas,” says López Rivera. “The fellowship will give me the opportunity to get in touch with researchers from other fields and jointly develop new approaches.”
The Academy supports outstanding young researchers at universities and research centers throughout Northern Germany. Each Fellow receives three years of advising and financial support, helping them pursue their own projects and interdisciplinary initiatives.
