The Humanities Centre for Advanced Studies “Futures of Sustainability” invites you to this upcoming public panel discussion:
“From Defeat to Resistance. What can we learn from the US nightmare?”
16 June 2025, 18:00-20:00 (Apéro from 17:30).
Panel Discussion with Dana R. Fisher & Cara Daggett.
Join us on the evening of 16 June (18:00, Apèro from 17:30) for a public panel discussion with Dana R. Fisher and Cara Daggett, two leading voices in US climate and political research. Together, we’ll examine the American case as a warning — and a source of lessons — for democratic and ecological resistance in times of authoritarian backlash. The event is open to all and part of the closed workshop "Activism, Academia, and Alliances in Shrinking Democratic and Ecological Spaces”, 16-17 June, which brings together scholars, activists, and scholar-activists from across Europe, Asia and the Americas to reflect on emerging strategies and explore new alliances for pushing forward a progressive, democratic and ecological agenda in the face of backlash.
With: Dana R. Fisher (American University) and Cara Daggett (RIFS Potsdam)
Moderation: Stefan C. Aykut and Christine Hentschel (both "Futures of Sustainability").
